description: AttributesPI_ID Priority Island ID - a unique identifier.NAME Island Name, from the Maine Coastal Island Registry.OTHER_NAME Possible other name from the Maine Coastal Island Registry.TOWN from MEGIS metwp24P layer.COUNTY from MEGIS metwp24P layer.LURC aka LUPC, from MEGIS metwp24P layer.ACRES Acres calculated in GIS of the shape from Maine Office of GIS (MEGIS) metwp24P layer.ISLANDID from the Coastal Island Registry, aka CIR.MCHT1994 MCHT Priority Island in 1994.MCHT2017 MCHT Priority Island in 2017.ANP_CEarea An island that is within the Acadia National Park CE aquisition area.NWR_PI US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) System Priority Island.MITA An island with a Maine Island Trial Association (MITA) campsite in 2017,MITA_PI Islands identified by MITA as priority islands for new public access site(s)(Marcaurelle, 2017).ARCHAEO Islands with unprotected historical and/or archaeological resources of statewidesignificance per the SHPO.BEACH An island with a landing beach (not necessaraly sandy), from Maine GeologicalSociety's Coastal Marine Geologic Environments layer.RECREATION Islands that are Undeveloped or Minimally Developed (except smaller islandswith minimal development where no further build out is capable), and within 2 miles of a boatlaunch and not already protected by any percent in Fee and does not have a CEguaranteeingpublic access. Also, islands with over 60% of SLR_6FT and Elevation < 20 FTwere removed. Launches - MEGIS and Maine Coastal Program, conservation - MEGIS andMCHT.SCENIC Islands 1/2 mile fromthe shore, Minimally Developed or Undeveloped, greater than 1acre, SLR_6FT > 50%, FEE_PC > 80%, CE_PC > 80%.IMPERV_AC Acres of impervious surface from MDIF&W Beginning with Habitat (BwH)ImpervSurface layer.IMPERV_PC Percent of impervious surface on the island, (IMPERV_AC / ACRES).DEV_LEV Development Level: Bridged or Ferried = an island accessible by a bridge or ferry, generally over 50 houses and has public roads. Developed = an island not bridged or ferriedbut has private roads and multiple houses or structures. Minimal Development = an islandwithless than three parcels and one to five structures. Undeveloped = no development. These categories were determined using MEGIS ng911rds,medotpubrds, parcels, parcel_utsand the BwH ImperviousSurface layers,COMPARTMT Maine Coastal Compartment, adopted from Kelley et. al. 1987. West to East:Arcuate Embayments (SW) Kittery to Cape Elizabeth, Indented Shoreline (SC) CapeElizabeth to Port Clyde, Island-Bay Coast (NC) Port Clyde to Cutler, and Cliffed Coast(NE) Cutler to Calais.HABITAT In-house classification defined as High = presence of Seabird Nesting Islands orShorebirds BwH layers, Moderate = presence of identified habitat for Endangered species,Threatened species or Species of Special Concern (etsc, BWH) with the exception of BaldEagles. Note: identified habitat for Harlequin ducks was buffered 100 feet because these areasare found just off shore. Low = an island with the presence of IWWH and/or TWWH and noneof the above habitat (BwH), Fresh Water Wetlands Only = an island with the USFWSNational Wetlands Inventory (NWI) Wetlands and none of the above habitat. N/A = an islandwith none of the above habitat or wetlands.NEOTROP_AC Neotropical Acres: In house calculation; The Highest Annual Tide (HAT) 2015from the Maine Geologic Survey (MGS) was used as a starting point, then this was bufferedinto the islands 25 feet. This was picked to represent a typical edge of no forest around islands.NEOTROP_PC Neotropical Ratio: This is the Neotropical Acres divided by the Total Acres. Thisgives us a percentage that can roughly tell us whether an island is rounder, or moreelongated. A higher ratio indicates rounder and lower more elongated.NT_UDEV_AC Neotropical Undeveloped Acres: Since our rough Neotropical calculation doesnot account for forested areas, open fields or developed lands, this attribute calculates theamount of Undeveloped Blocks (BwH) with the above defined Nootropic Area.NT_UDEV_PC Neotropical Undeveloped Percentage: This is the ratio of NootropicUndeveloped Acres divided by Total Acres. This gives us a percentage that can roughly tell uswhether an island is rounder, or more elongated. A higher ratio indicates rounder and lowermore elongated. This ratio can give a better analysis based on these data, a close visualinspection should be performed to verify this attribute.ELEVATION Elevation in feet from MEGIS 10' Contours, with some 6 and 3 foot elevations.Note: if Elevation is 0, then it is less than 10 feet.SLR_6FT Used the MGS's Highest Annual Tide Plus 6 Feet sea level rise (SLR) scenario layerto reduce island areas to hypothetical future values. This remainder divided by the Total Acresgives us a percentage of the island that potentially will be inundated by SLR. Note: 100% isunder water.FEE_AC Amount of Fee owned land from the Conservation Lands layer (MEGIS & MCHT) withinthe island.FEE_PC Percentage of Fee owned land from Conservation Land layer (MEGIS and MCHT), Feeamount divided by total Acres. Note: due to differing sources of data, percentages are notexact therefore islands with close to 100% are probably 100% conserved.CE_AC Amount of Conservation Easement land from the Conservation Lands layer (MEGIS &MCHT) within the island.CE_PC Percentage of Conservation Easement land from the Conservation Lands layer (MEGISand MCHT), CE amount divided by total Acres. Note: due to differing sources of data, percentages are not exact therefore islands with close to 100% are probably 100% conserved.PROJECTProject Name from the MEGIS Conserved Lands layer.CONS1_TYPE Type of Conservation from the MEGIS Conserved Lands layer.HOLD1_NAME Name of the primary Conservation Holder from the MEGIS Conserved Landslayer.NOTES Notes as needed.STR_CON Strengthening Conservation: Islands that have some existing level of protection, but where we would ultimately like to see a stronger conservation outcome.STCON_NOTE Strengthening Conservation Notes.LAT Latitude of polygon centroid.LONG Longitude of polygon centroid.
